Sensei Matt Haché, one of the most dedicated students and accomplished competitors at Team Renzo Gracie. Matt has been training with Pat Cooligan since November 2002. Over the years, Matt has emerged as one of the main instructors in the BJJ, MMA, and Children’s programs at OAMA. Matt also helps coach students at BJJ tournaments; he also helps OAMA’s Professional MMA fighters prepare for their fights; and is in their corner come fight time. Matt is Assistant Instructor to Pat when working with the Canadian Army and Special Forces. He has represented OAMA at numerous community charity events as well.  Through hard work and dedication Matt has become the Director of the Programs for Children here at OAMA.
Sensei Sami Mann started training Japanese Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 15 and started training full time when he was 17. Sami started training with Pat Cooligan in the summer of 2006, training both the arts of Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Sami is now a blue belt under Renzo Gracie and has had the opportunity to train with the likes of John Danaher, Roger Gracie, Gregor Gracie and Renzo Gracie. He is also a blue pratchiat in Muay Thai.

Sami’s dedication to martial arts has led him to Los Angeles, New York and elsewhere in North America several times to train and compete. He has won or medaled in almost every tournament he has competed in, highlighted by a gold at the 2008 Pan-American Championship. Sami’s main focus at the academy is the growth and development of the children’s program.
Sensei MacKenzie Oldham began training with Pat Cooligan at the age of 12 in the adult program. Mackenzie is one of the most dedicated staff and instructors here at OAMA. She helps with summer and March Break camps and many of other events. She was one of the first women promoted to blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at OAMA and had the honour of receiving it from Renzo Gracie himself. She is also one of the few women at the academy who competes in BJJ tournaments in the United States.

MacKenzie has been very active in the competition scene for the past couple years and has had major success.

She has won many titles such as:

  • Arnold’s 2007 champion – Gold
  • NAGA World’s Championship 2007 – Silver
  • Grappler’s Quest North American Championship 2007 – Bronze
